One of Alan's underlying artistic passions is centered in cartooning. Creating and publishing hundreds of cartoons since joining the Hingham Journal in 1996, he simplifies often complex local issues and current events with a picture and some very astute humor.

Alan Kearney, AIA, RA, received his degree in Architecture from Boston Architectural College in 1994. He worked with BKA Architects and later Holmes & Edwards Architects for a total of 26 years before founding A.Kearney Architects in 2009. His early work was large in scale, and included a range of corporate, residential, and commercial projects located throughout the greater Boston area.
Upon founding A.Kearney Architects, Alan directed his focus toward projects of a more intimate scale and scope. The firms' focus shifted toward the private, whether for residential or small to midsize commercial. Alan's goal for A.Kearney Architects is to encourage the special relationships that can arise between individuals and the spaces they occupy.

Common to our design process is a commitment to clear and open communication, the careful management of resources, and a fundamental belief that innovation and coherent design is a joyous and essential component of human experience. With each project we strive to demonstrate that inventive and elegant design is achievable, even within strict economic parameters, by respectfully listening and responding to the clients needs and desires.
We use a diverse set of design tools custom tailored to each client - from simple hand sketches to elaborate computer animations and rendered models - to ensure the spatial quality and experience of each project is thoroughly understood throughout the design process.
